Error message «Relaying denied»
You receive the error message «Relaying denied» when you send an email.
Symptoms
- Messages can still be received without difficulty. You only experience problems with sending.
- Depending on which email program you are using, you receive error messages such as «Relaying denied», «Proper authentication required» or «Access refused».
Cause
- SMTP authentication in your email program is disabled or configured incorrectly.
Solutions
- Check your email settings and enable SMTP authentication if necessary, or make sure it is configured correctly. For more information on configuring email account settings and where to enable SMTP authentication, refer to our guides under «Setting up your email software».
